FAQ's

Common Questions:

How do you maintain health and safety when carrying out your work?

We appreciate that people may be on site or at home when our Window Cleaners are working, so all staff understand when and where to use PPE and display safety signs where there is an identified risk.

SAFE CONTRACTOR ACCREDITATION

Safe Contractor is a Government approved scheme which is designed and set up to assure potential clients that it's scheme members are adequately insured and that all relevant health and safety documentation is in order. To achieve the high level of accreditation, we must undergo a vigorous and thorough audit of our policies and procedures set out by the standards charter.

Listed below are some of the topics that we are audited and assessed on annually:

·      Main Policy Document

·      Work at Height Regulations

·      Health and Safety Responsibilities

·      Procedures and Method Statements

·      Manual Handling

·      Risk Assessment

·      First Aid and Accident Reporting

·      Control and Sub Contractors

·      Implementation of the Policy

Can you use MEWPS or towers if requested?

Yes, at Rise and Shine Cleaning we hold both PAZMA and IPAF licence accreditations.

Window Cleaning:

DO YOU USE THE WATER FED POLE METHOD?

For approximately 90% of our window cleaning we use the water fed pole method. We were one of the first companies in this area to invest in this system 15 years ago. We can guarantee that if used correctly it produces fantastic results.
For Internal work & on odd occasions if deemed necessary we still use the traditional method of using soap and water via squeegee and Dolly.

Do you clean the sills as well?

At Rise and Shine Cleaning as part of our standard window clean, we will clean all glass, surrounding framework, sills & doors - Including garage doors.

I have Velux windows set in the roof, can you reach those?

We will always try our hardest to reach every window, relying on nearly 20 years of experience in the business. Our poles can reach a height of 65 feet. We believe in the saying "where there is a will, there is a way"

Am I tied into a contract, Do I have to have them cleaned when you say?

It is always the client's choice when any clean is carried out. If requested some clients like reminders ranging from 1-6 months. It is then their decision. We would never turn up without prior agreement.

We may not be in; how do we pay?

We are happy to take payment via bank transfer & make sure any gates are closed on leaving. We often have combination locks, that are obviously kept private.

Pressure Washing:

WE HAVE A STONE PATIO AND WOODEN DECKING; CAN YOU PRESSURE WASH BOTH?

Yes, we carry out our pressure washing service on a variety of different surfaces which include imprinted concrete, block paving, tarmac, different varieties of natural stone, decking and resin bonding.

Will the pointing be damaged between our slabs?

It all depends on the condition of your pointing; we have to use a certain amount of pressure with our jet wash to ensure a good clean. So, there is always a chance that any loose pointing will be blown out but we do our best to minimise any damage caused.

Do you provide any other additional services?

Yes, we re-sand using kiln dried sand (different colours) between block paving and we also use black spot remover on a variety of surfaces to try to remove any lichen and staining.

Do you need anything from us to carry out the job?

We of course will need full access to the property as well as an external power/water supply for our pressure washing machines.

OUR LAST PRESSURE WASHER LEFT SAND AND MUD ALL OVER OUR WINDOWS AND GARDEN FURNITURE, WHAT WILL YOU DO TO ENSURE THIS WON'T HAPPEN?

We will first move any plant pots or garden furniture out of the way to minimise any spray onto them. We will also mist everything down after our clean to ensure your garden looks the same as it did before we started. The beauty of using our services is that we can also provide a window clean afterwards to any affected windows to ensure there is no lime scale staining.

Gutter Clearance:

We would like our gutters cleaned but we are not sure if you can reach them?

For some low-level work, we still use ladders and for high level work up to 50ft we use our professional gutter vac machines.

Do you clean flat roof areas?

Yes, as part of our service we will always clear flat roof areas.

Do you test downpipes?

Yes, we will test your downpipes with water to ensure it is free flowing down to drain level. On request we will also fit pipe balloons to restrict blockages.

I think one of my gutter clips is broken, can you repair it?

Yes, we carry most spare parts with us and would be happy to carry out any minor repairs.

We may not be in; how can I pay?

We will need access around your property to carry out the job, and we will make sure any gates are closed on leaving. We often have combination locks, that obviously are kept private. We are happy to take payment via bank transfer if you are not in.

Solar Panel Cleaning:

Why do solar panels need to be cleaned ?

As Solar panels face upwards there are a number of types of dirt and debris that can cover their surface. This dirt and debris build up over time and creates an opaque layer of grime on the panels, this layer of grime can reduce the panels efficiency by up to 30% therefore reducing the financial benefits considerably.

How often do solar panels need to be cleaned?

We at Rise And Shine Cleaning as well as the vast majority of solar panel installation companies recommend that your solar panels should be cleaned every six months to ensure to ensure you are getting the maximum yield from your panels.

how do you clean solar panels, do you use chemicals?

No we do not, it is not recommended to use any forms of chemicals or detergents whilst carrying out a solar panel clean. The use of such chemicals will often leave a sticky microscopic film on the panels, which actually attracts dirt and grime. We use a de-ionised pure water pure pumped  through our water fed poles to remove the build up of dirt and grime from the surface of the panel.

do you only clean domestic solar panels?

No, we have carried out many cleans on small, medium and large commercial installations ranging from farm buildings, schools, offices to solar panel farms.
